Scott Cohen says:

“The client wanted to create a a side yard fountain with a bronze mermaid, but did not like the look of the store bought mermaids. I suggested we cast the client nude to create the molds to build our own mermaid. They agreed, and her husband applied the plaster to her naked upper body under my supervision. I have 16 years experience as a sculptor and ceramics tile maker, but this was the biggest tile I have yet to make. The finished porcelain mermaid was 7 feet in length and was glaze fired in an antique bronze. We added optional shells to cover her breasts if desired, but the clients decided against covering them after she was installed. ”
